Weekend in Kolkata

Hello local experts!

We are coming to Kolkata for the weekend. We are looking for suggestions from you for non touristy but hip places to go out in the evening. Any concerts or live music places?

Also, we'd love to get a bit of cheap shopping done. Any suggestions where we should go?

Thanks a lot in advance!

May have a look at the programme of Eastern Zonal Centre at Salt Lake, they often organize dance, music, drama in the arena, mostly Bengali folk programme.

If you want to buy garments/clothing, may try New Market and surrounding areas. They sell stuff at bargain price.

Hello

in the evening try babughat river side. Newly beautified walkway made on the river bank. Also Howrah phool market in bridge area is a good non tourist location. For Book purchase go college street. For cheap silk saree go to hatibagan Market. Hope this will serve your interest.

Well nothing can beat the flea market prices in the Esplanade or New Market area of Kolkata to quench your thirst for cheap shopping...

But if you want to try brands then in this month almost in all the shopping malls Sale is going on for upto 50% or rather at times flat 50% especially on the weekends..

FireBlossoms,

Trincas on Park St have live music on, 7pm till 9pm it's

traditional Indian music followed by there resident band

at 9pm with covers of all genres in English. It's a restaurant

with a stage for the bands.

Next door within the Park Hotel ( Some Where Else ) there

are various bands and disco nightly. Free entry but drinks

are pricey.

Milma.

Have never personally booked a table so cant say

for sure however you probably be able to do so. There's

around a 100 covers to the place and anytime I have been

it's pretty full. There's a section of the restaurant cordoned

off like a little snug area so you can see what's going on with

limited sounds from the live bands. Good to see.
