if you really want to enjoy phi phi and it's surrounding islands .....stay there for a couple of nights!!!........we went there on a day trip n decided to stay for night ....ended up spending 2....
Thanks guys! I don't think we can fit in an overnight trip unfortunately.
If you just had one day to explore, what land based activities do you recommend?
I think staying a few days at Phi Phi will be a much better option than staying at Railey Beach for more than a day or two.. having been to both recently, there is much much more to do at Phi Phi.
If you have the time do take the walk up to the Viewpoint to take in the view over the twin bays.
It is difficult to do a day trip on your own as the ferries won't really allow you very much time on the Island - a long ferry ride each weay for a very small amount of time on land, there are many tour operators from Krabi that do day trips over, you will need to have a look upon your arrival at what each offers and what appeals to you, head to a tour agent and look at the brochures.
It would be great if you could spare 2 nights there - no doubt a day trip will make you want to return!
I would have to agree with the above posters a day trip doesn't do it justice. Melborne has it right when he says to walk up to the view points. The views of the bays are awesome.
If relaxing is more your thing checkout the beaches on Tonsai bay, they are much cleaner and less crowded. Only downside over there is there is more boat traffic cause that is where most of the day trippers unload.
For more info on the view points check out my post on the hike: gettingstamped.com/2012/11/02/hiking-phi-phi/
