Bogus Taxi

I stood at entrance of MidValley Megamall where Coffee bean is. I thought I could catch a cab since folks do alight from cabs there. I wasn't sure if a man dressed in white was the guy organising the taxi Q. Was approached by another taxi man who claimed that he is premier cab and starts at $4 while budget/ordinary cab starts at $3. He also said he uses the meter. My trip from MidValley to Prima 16 in section 16 costed me MYR$50 as shown my meter. It is less than 8km in distance plus a moving traffic jam. It was about 8pm.

I want to warn folks not to be taken in by this good English speaking taximan who is actually bogus taximan. MidValley needs to have proper queuing places for legitimate cabbies and take action on scumbags who spoil the reputation of Kuala Lumpur

Yes, the taxi situation in Malaysia is quite disappointing. Even we the locals don't like it but the local authorities aren't doing enough to tackle the problem.

There are honest cabbies, but they are in the minority. As for the rest, be vigilant and try to negotiate a fare before hand.
