Richmond Sapporo Ekimae questions

Hi

We are planning to stay at Richmond Sapporo Ekimae. Could you please advise following:

1. JR Station to hotel ( I understand that I have to exit on No. 23 for the escalator) as we have lots of luggages. Could you please give us step by step how to reach our hotel as we are arriving late at night.

2. where is the nearest Bus stop for Niseko from hotel. Any direction would be grateful

3. Is there a particular bus company we need to use that is closed to this hotel

Thanks in advice.

Hi again,

We are staying there as well and it might be best if you ask the hotel directly. I've been emailing them about parking and their responses are quick and the English is good.

1. I haven't stayed at this hotel, but the hotel's website and Google Map say it takes @7,8 min. from Sapporo station to the hotel, thus it might be better to take a Taxi from the Station.

2. Hokkaido Resort Liner stops at ANA Crown Plaza Hotel, Hotel New Otani Inn Sapporo, and Sapporo Station in winter Ski season.

>>Could you please give us step by step how to reach our hotel as we are arriving late at night.<<

The hotel is a short walk from the JR Station (which means that the drivers would not be eager or happy to carry you for a mere 1-2 minutes for the minimum fare after waiting very long at the taxi circle of the station) but it could be rather longer than desired with luggage with snow. There are several ways to get there from the station (and as the Google Map with Street View should tell you), but I would personally not use the underground corridor above Subway Toho Line (as in order to reach there, you'd have to get across the basement of ESTA store building from the JR Station, which could already be puzzling for foreigners on their fist time visit and with luggage), and as I think there was a sort of slope going deeper down requiring long stairs at the nearest exit to Richmond Hotel. Exit No.23 indeed has an elevator getting out to the Hokuren Building, but to reach there is a bit complicating (as Google Map might suggest to you).

The most simple way is once you get out of the station concourse, walk through Stellar Place to get out of the station complex, turn left and walk beside ESTA (Bic Camera inside) on the ground level on the Kita 5-jo Street. Upon seeing the parking lot across the street from the ESTA building, turn right at the Kita 4 Nishi 2 crossing (the one with the brownish Hokuren building on the corner) and walk to the south, passing the Kita 3 Nishi 1 crossing. toward Toyoko Inn Sapporo Eki-mae Minami-guchi (there should be a big sign on top of the hotel). Two building south to the Toyoko Inn, there's your Richmond Hotel. Please do a research on Google Map.

The bus for Niseko departs from Sapporo Station Bus Terminal, which is at the ground level of the aforementioned ESTA mall (with Bic Camera store inside), located south of the station complex and Stellar Place mall. The second floor corridor linking ESTA and Stellar Place has a ticket office for the expressway buses. To access the bus terminal and spot No.17 for Niseko (if the bus is operated by Hokkaido Chuo Bus Co.), you would probably need to go up the stairs from the ESTA basement (which is a sort of depachika, deli food and restaurants area). As I have mentioned above, it can be a bit complicating with heavy luggage and going through people shopping.

Don't forget that December will have snow and the last time I was walking around Sapporo on the footpath was during January and we had to walk on snow, snow-packed, ice and slush.

As for bus - you would probably not have to take a bus within Sapporo City. You may perhaps take the Chuo Bus No.88 Circular between Sapporo Station stop (south side of Tokyu Department Store) and Sapporo Beer Museum/Ario Shopping Mall.

Hokkaido Resort Liner is the bus that stops at ANA Crown Plaza Hotel and Hotel New Otani Inn Sapporo, which are both next to your hotel, and goes to Niseko in winter. Are you coming in winter?

Are you going to stay in Niseko? If so, that hotel in Sapporo is not that bad. But, it's better if you can stay at a hotel closer to Sapporo Station or at a large hotel where buses from Sapporo to Niseko stop.

Or are you going to day trip from Sapporo to Niseko? If you stay in Sapporo, Sapporo Teine Ski Resort is another large Ski Resort which is much closer to Sapporo.

Hi.

We have a quick stop over in Sapporo for 3 days before we spend two weeks skiing in Niseko. So if one of the hotels you mentioned is within a few minute walk and is a stop for the bus would be ideal.

Thanks for your help.
