Charity baggage via Monarch airlines

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows if Monarch airlines allow an extra suitcase for Charity clothing? I'm travelling as part of a group in March and would like to take some clothing out to a Gambian family that we made friends with on our previous visits

Gambia Eperience say that - at least when flying with Monarch through them - a total of 30 kg charity luggage is allowed on the flight on a first come first served basis. Not a lot for the whole flight !

Not sure what the position is when booking directly with Monarch.

The link is :-

gambiaflights.co.uk/docs/…faq.aspx

and then click on the question about charity luggage.

I tried to get it direct from Monarch earlier this year when we booked through Cosmos.

It was a resounding NO via email and when I phoned them.

Gambia Experience have always let me and my husband have 5kg each but I do ask for it as soon as I book. Booking premium seats on the way out get you extra allowance aswell.

I doubt if PADDY POWER would take bets that airlines will reinstate free luggage without The charity it is going to confirming the request .

Unfortuately the era of freebies from airlines is past ,what with the cost of fuel,

Most people will say that it all went to deserving people ,BUT human nature being what it is,

I could never manage that extra 20 kilos when travelling ,but I always came back with no clothes ,meds or toiliteries.

shame feebies are gone though, shame for the gambians :-

still enjoy the hols nearly first charter flight time :-))
