Snorkeling in Dahab

We are looking for a family friendly hotel in Duhab where we can snorkel with a child. It looks like the area is great for wind sirfing but may not be great for snorkeling.

If you have snorkeled in Duhab with a child, I would love to hear about your experience and what hotel you stayed at.

Most of the bigger hotel (Hilton, Swiss Inn, Ibertotel) are located in the “Lagoon” area about 2 miles from the centre of Dahab. There is only 1 hotel in that area with a reef “Le Meridien” which is about a mile further around the bay from them. The reef is quite nice and is also used by the dive concession (Poseidon divers) that operate at the hotel. There are a few boat concessions on the beach that run trips and most dive centres will take you by truck / taxi to sites outside of Dahab for great snorkelling trips. Have a look at this tread for a few of the locations.

There are quite a few smaller / specialist (dive places) around the coast in the town area.
