The Boardwalk Tram

My wife and I are returning to AC in a few weeks for the first time in several years and was just reading tango’s Trip Report which mentioned a Boardwalk Tram, which will be new to us. I was wondering if someone could share some info about it. Looks like a great idea and something we might take advantage of.

Also, is The Total Rewards shuttle to Harrah’s still operating? For some reason I was thinking they had eliminated it but I think I saw it mentioned.

welcome back!

the TR shuttle lives, although it's on life support:

many people prefer the reliability of the jitney.

here's the boardwalk tram website:

http://www.boardwalktours.com

best availability for getting on seems to be at the end of the line, which also provides your best value ride; mid-boardwalk there is often no room, unless people are de-tramming. (is that a word?)

here is the thread from when the tram first started:

https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29750…

the fare has gone up; it is now $4 one way. according to the website, they still do offer all day passes for $8.

If you get shut out on the tram (it's happened to me several times during my last couple visits),you can always try a rolling chair. They run about $5 + tip for every 5 blocks. They are available until the wee hours on Friday and Saturday.

FWIW, taxis have a max fare of $13 within city limits.

Everyone should ride the jitney at least once for the bone jarring thrill;-)!

Have fun!

Artemus, nice to see you on this forum. Make sure you check out Margaritaville at Resorts, it'll give you your Jimmy Buffet fix.

Thank you, leo. Believe it or not, I’ve been to that Margaritaville several times for dinner and breakfast. Have enjoyed it very much. Got to be friends with the manager. Hoping he’s still there when we return. He even has a Virginia Parrothead license plate with mine and my wife’s initials on it that we gave him and he promised to try to display in the bar area but had to get corporate permission. Will see if it’s there, haha.

Thanks DL. I’ve ridden the jitney quite a few times. I think they try to hit every pot hole.

Hi again Artemus—Check out the local weekly if you make it to Landshark on the beach. There have been Chill coupons for there:

The all day Boardwalk Tram passes are one of the best deals in town now but the rolling chairs are still a great AC experience not to be missed! And, of course, the new Wheel:

Enjoy & Good Luck.

Thank you ez. I didn’t know about The Wheel. Will have to check it out. Will check back for Landshark coupons when it’s applicable for when I visit. Have done the rolling chairs a few times over the years. You are right, they are a great experience. The all day tram pass does seem like the way to go.
