I'm due to visit the Mina a Salam in 2 weeks and was wondering which is the best currency to take, for general spends, taxi's and tipping.

Thanks

Bring sterling. Change it to Dhirims at the Bureau de exchange just after you collect the luggage. They tend to give you the best rate.

There also plentiful money exchangers in shopping centres and at the Diera.

ATMs are plentiful.

Depends, as the AED will remain pegged to the US Dollar and will follow it faithfully wherever it goes. To know what is happening to Sterling against the Dirham all you have to look at is what’s happening to Sterling against the Dollar.

We arrive at about 2:30am, are there places to change money in the airport at that time?

One thing we found really useful was using your UK Bank Switch / Maestro card at any ATM. All in English and easy to use. You will get charged the exchange rate at the time of the transaction and no other fee. Just saves you carrying a lot of money with you. We are just back from 15 nights and had change out of £300 that we changed at the Airport on Arrival. Everything else Hotel bills etc went on the Amex..to get the points....No point on spending cash and getting nothing for it now is there?

Cheers
