Driving from Rijeka to Dubronvik

Planning to rent a car for a week in Croatia to explore different parts of the country. I've looked around and it seems a one-way rental is possible (pick up from Rijeka and return the car at Dubronvik). Per google map, there's a stretch of highway (around 15km), that goes through Bosnia. Are additional motor insurance required? I assume it's relatively "safe" to do so? Additional tourist visa required to travel through Bosnia?

I've email different car rental companies and none had replied. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

You would need a green card to enter BiH but you could avoid that stretch by taking a ferry from Ploce to Trpanj and then drive down the Peljesac Peninsula to Dubrovnik.

The rental companies usually have something in the fine print on the website about whether they charge extra to take the car through the Neum Corridor. Some do, some dont. Almost a!l charge extra to venture further into Bosnia.

As for whether you need a visa, that would depend on your citizenship and passport. As a U.S. citizen, my passport was enough.

Not sure what you are asking about whether it's safe. Bosnia is very safe.

Thanks. No wonder no car rental companies had replied.

Where can the "Green Card" be obtained and how much it costs? I hold a Hong Kong Passport which doesn't require an entry visa into Bosnia.

The green card is given by the car company...you would just have to let them know your plans...I believe you now need an International Drivers Permit now too...keep trying to contact them...someone eventually has to reply to you.
