We arrived on Thursday around 1 p.m. and arranged for an airport pickup with Camilo Bermudez, who many on this forum recommended. The price for the transfer ($30) was the same others charge on site but it's nice to have a contact to rely on when entering a new country.
We were taken to the Hilton Garden Inn, our hotel for the four nights, where we rested before heading to Casco Viejo. We grabbed a taxi to get there and enjoyed walking around and had a nice dinner
On Saturday, we had arranged with Camilo for a San Blas tour. Camilo did a great job getting it setup. It's a LONG trip. We left our hotel at 5 a.m. and finally reached the beach around 10 a.m. We enjoyed about five hours of beaches, snorkeling, natural pools and lunch before getting back to the hotel a little before 7 p.m.
On Sunday (today), we arranged a private tour with Camilo. He picked us up at 7 a.m. and took us on a private boat to monkey island. We saw other tourists packed into small boats and we knew we had made the right decision. Great experience! Camilo also drove us to the Rainforest Discovery Center, where we saw a sloth, more monkeys and tons of birds. After that, we went to lunch in Casco Viejo, visited the huge Panama sign and then he dropped us off at the hotel.
I can't say enough good things about Camilo and his willingness to help and be a great ambassador for his country. I'm thankful to the TripAdvisor community for helping us connect with him as he definitely made our trip way better!
