Supermarket and 7-11 type places for beer. Multipacks give a reasonable saving.

Hawkercentres, coffee shapos (small version of hawker centres) and food courts (every mall will have one) are the chepaest places for local food. A beer in Hawker centre is around S$5.

cocktails at most bars would set you back by about $15 per drink. most places have happy hour where prices are lower or there are one-for-one deals. most supermarkets sell alcohol, carrefour has a pretty decent selection.

The GBP has been worse in the last couple of years, although its depressing compared to 3 years ago when I was getting 2.80 or so SGD to the GBP.

I generally treat alcohol as expensive London prices when buying outside of supermarkets for anything named. That mentality is not totally accurate but it means I'm never shocked by the cost. Frankly, I don't drink that much alcohol in Singapore myself so I tend not to be picking it up in the supermarket and only buy out - I get through so much fluid anyway and the heat and humidity combine to make me head to lime juice over alcohol in most cases, so I do not miss it. Even when I do, Tiger beer does me fine thanks....go for local over imported and again costs tumble.

A bottle of wine in a supermarket will cost you at least 3 times what you pay in UK for exactly the same. If you buy a bottle of wine in a restaurant or hotel the cheapest we found was around £30.00. It really isnt worth buying it by the glass. We had a drink in a bar one evening, one small bottle of Tiger Beer, one small glass of red wine and a single Baileys, the total cost was £21.00 if you drink beer at a hawker stall it is the cheapest but unfortunately I only drink wine. This is why we always upgrade to club benefits in the hotel it is definitely worth it for us.
