Bangkok or Singapore ?

I'm hearing bad things that Bangkok is getting rid of street food. What is Singapore like?

It depends on what you are after.

Bangkok is more crowded and polluted but is cheap (esp alcohol), has grand temples and a strong Thai culture.

Singapore is more well planned, cleaner, safer and more diverse in terms of culture and food. Accommodation, cigarettes and alcohol are expensive. Singapore doesn't really have food sold in the streets unless it is ice cream sold from mobile kiosks. What it has are hawker centre and food courts.

My answer is Singapore, for sure. but im biased and been to BKK many times too...

Singapore is a fantastic destination, the envy of all other SEA countries for the high living standards, highly educated and motivated population of so many backgrounds, religions and ethnical roots. And of course it's tourism facilities and attractions are an inescapable magnet.. No tours or guides needed. It`s easy-breezy and totally recommended to do SIN in DIY basis, it gives you a flexibility with plans, sense of self-dependence and saves money. In Top question about Singapore (right top side of your screen) you`ll find a fair number of travel articles: visa, transport, sightseeing, weather, accommodation option that give you tips and hits how to plan your vacation. Itinerary samples of the previous travelers are there too.......

For a start you might consider the duck tour, the zoo, the night safari, the jurong bird park, sentosa attractions, universal studios, Garden by the Bay, Singapore flyer, MacRitchie Nature Trail or the observation deck at Marina Bay sands, etc...

Looking at your posts in other forums, I think developing countries are more suitable for what you want though be aware that ripping off/scamming of tourists is more common in these cities due to the low general income. If you go to Thailand, don't drink so much as to argue with the Thais. There are many shopping malls in Bangkok esp in the Pratunam area. Not sure you can avoid them entirely.

When I lived in Singapore, I had a colleague living in Bangkok. We swapped apartments once because he found Bangkok too noisy and dirty and I found Singapore to be too clean. Great swap.

Thailand has the far greater depth of culture for Singapore really dates from the 19th century.

If you can eat, Singapore has lots of food within reach. No traffic jam like in Bangkok and your choice options range from street cheap to sky high expensive. Your choice. Up 2 you.
