Singapore trip advise

Dear TA Experts

We are a family of 4 (sons age 12 and 8) arriving Singapore by SQ at 8 pm on May 25 Fri. We are staying at One Farrer Hotel & Spa checking out on Jun 1 Fri. Following is my tentative itinerary:

# May 25 Fri - Post arrival buy tourist SIM card for 7 days (SGD 15) >>reach hotel by cab>>dinner and relax at hotel

# May 26 Sat - Visit Singapore Zoo and either river safari or night safari (Transport by cab)

# May 27 Sun - Visit Jurong Bird Park and either river or night safari (Transport by cab)

# May 28 - Visit Sentosa (till harbourtfront by MRT from farrer park), then take Cable Car. After alighting as follows >> SEA Aquarium >> Madam tussauds >> Skyline & luge >> Wings of time (Return by MRT)

# May 29 - Flyer >> MBS (including Spectra show) >> Merlion >> Clarke Quay (Transport by cab unless MRT is cheaper)

# May 30 - USS (Transport by cab since we plan to reach there by 9 am to avoid rush). Evening at Vivocity Mall after USS and if energy permits. Return transport by MRT from harbourfront to Farrer Park

# May 31 - Morning Orchard Road >> Gardens by the bay (include park, both domes and Super Tree show) (Transport by cab unless MRT is cheaper)

# Jun 1 - Checkout at 12 and then roam around in Little India/Bugis/Chinatown. Intend to leave by 4 pm since flight to India is at 7 pm.

I have read reviews on the forum and conscious that all 4 parks may be slightly overbearing in 2 days hence if need be i can split them into 3 days, however my preference is to complete in 2 days in the beginning when the kids enthusiasm will be high. I have not yet included botanical gardens but might adjust depending upon how the trip progresses.

Given the above, seek your esteemed advise on following:

1) suggestions on the itinerary

2) any change of attractions keeping in mind the holidays/weekends i.e. in your experience which attractions we should do on weekends or public holiday where there could be less rush.

3) what should be the correct sequence for May 28 & 29 so that we don't waste time

and any other helpful tips.

Thanking in advance

Vishal

Zoo + Night Safari is quite hectic. Someone who did all 3 parks in the same day only did the tram ride at the Night Safari before going home. I think they weren't that interested in animals to begin with.

>># May 29 - Flyer >> MBS (including Spectra show) >> Merlion >> Clarke Quay (Transport by cab unless MRT is cheaper)<<

These won't take the whole day and to tie in with the Spectra show, visit MBS in the late afternoon unless you plan to visit the ArtScience Museum also. The Flyer is around 1h (30mins ride plus the gallery, the small tropical garden and waiting time). I would say you have morning till early afternoon free.

Also Night Safari is the most crowded on Fri and Sat followed by Sunday. It is better to visit on Mon to Thu night to avoid the crowd.

For the cable car (Faber Line), pls ride Harbourfront-Mount Faber-Harbourfront-Sentosa to take advantage of the round trip. You have the option to hop off at Mount Faber for a short stroll or skip it if you don't have the time. Within Sentosa, there is another cable car line (Sentosa Line) to transfer to if you buy tickets for both lines.

Mdm Tussaud and Skyline Luge are near the Sentosa cable car station so you can visit those first. After that, walk through Merlion Plaza, past a fountain, down the escalators and a short distance more to reach SEA. Be aware SEA closes at 7pm and allow 2-3hours for your visit

<# May 26 Sat - Visit Singapore Zoo and either river safari or night safari (Transport by cab)>

Only sensible pairing is Zoo and River Safari

<# May 27 Sun - Visit Jurong Bird Park and either river or night safari (Transport by cab)>

Bird park and Night Safari but you will need to go back to your hotel to freshen up and rest first before going on to the Night Safari otherwise it can get very tiring. Target to leave Bird Park around 3pm.

< # May 29 - Flyer >> MBS (including Spectra show) >> Merlion >> Clarke Quay (Transport by cab unless MRT is cheaper)>

What time are you doing the flyer and going to MBS? Spectra show is at night so unless you are staying at MBS the entire day until the spectra show, you might as well do the GBB on this day instead. It's about a 10 mins walk to/from MBS. So basically Flyer-> Merlion -> GBB -> MBS (spectra) -> Clark Quay. Catch the 7.45pm light show before going to MBS for the 9pm spectra show after which you can go to Clark Quay.

<# May 31 - Morning Orchard Road >> Gardens by the bay (include park, both domes and Super Tree show) (Transport by cab unless MRT is cheaper)>

If you do the GBB on the previous day, then you can do the Botanic Gardens on this day. So basically Morning Botanic Gardens -> Orchard Road. If you exit Botanic Gardens at the Tanglin exit, it's just a short bus ride to Orchard Road.

Other days are fine.

6. Re: Singapore trip advise

Thanks for your revert. I have amended itinerary keeping in mind the holiday, heat and some relaxation as follows:

# May 26 Sat - Visit Singapore Zoo including water park for kids and evening free to spend time in City square mall or enjoy pool at hotel (Transport by cab)

# May 27 Sun - Visit Jurong Bird Park and complete by around 2. Come back to Hotel to freshen up. Leave hotel for Flyer around 5 pm>> Merlion >> MBS Skydeck >> Spectra Show. In case spectra show time is coming before then will do MBS Skydeck after that since on Sunday the skydeck is open till 11 pm (Transport by cab)

# May 28 - Visit River Safari (reaching by 1 pm) and then Night Safari (transport by cab)

# May 29 - Sentosa >> Cable Car >> Madam tussauds >> Skyline & luge >> SEA Aquarium >> Wings of time (Return by MRT) (hope the sequence of shows is fine, also by when should we start from our hotel so as to complete all shows and reach for wings of time by 7.15)

# May 30 - USS (Transport by cab since we plan to reach there by 9 am to avoid rush). Evening at Vivocity Mall after USS and if energy permits. Return transport by MRT from harbourfront to Farrer Park

# May 31 - Late Morning Orchard Road >> Reach Gardens by the bay by 2.30 >> Do both domes first and then open park and then light show at 7.45 pm>> Clarke Quay (Transport by cab)

# Jun 1 - Checkout at 12 and then roam around in Little India/Bugis/Chinatown. Intend to leave by 4 pm since flight to India is at 7 pm.

I have kept Botanical Gardens as optional and will adjust as trip progresses. Reading other reviews on forum i understand that it will be best to travel by cab since we are 4 people although MRT might be slightly cheaper.

Your itinerary looks fine now. Splitting the wildlife parks to 3 days is good.

I would definitely do Orchard Rd, Clarke Quay, Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay etc by MRT as it is quick, cheap, air conditioned and you get to live like a local for a bit!

10. Re: Singapore trip advise

If you are taking the cable car, then you might want to leave earlier say around 8am so you can take the cable car to Mount Faber first and take in the sights there before going to Sentosa. Target o reach Sentosa latest by 10am.

Cable car rides are sold as return trip or unlimited rides if I remember correctly. So if you can purchase the return cable car ride, then for the night trip back to Vivocity, you can take the sentosa express and you can take the MRT from the basement of vivocity back to your hotel..
