My husband and I will be arriving from Canada, Does the process of customs/security take a long time?
Depends on whether there are other flights arriving at same time. What time of day?
Immigration and customs on entry. Not security and customs.Edited: 13 May 2018, 04:35
Thank you. We arrive at probably the wrong time, 3.45pm. I read a few places and it said it’s horrendous and takes acouple of hours. Is it true they fingerprint and take a photo.
KIX immigration/customs usually take 45-60 minutes, but it can be horrendous if you arrive on a major Chinese holiday and there are mobs of Chinese tourists before you.
All non Japanese passport holders need to submit finger prints and a picture.
Fingerprinting and photo are very straight forward. You just put your 2 index fingers on a reader at immigration when you present your passport. Photo ID is similar to other places as well - just look into camera. The actual process is very easy and doesn’t take much time at all after you reach the desk.Edited: 13 May 2018, 10:04
It can be very quick (<15 minutes), or it can be very slow (45-60 as mentioned). I have experienced it both ways. Be sure to fill out the form correctly. Many people get to the counter and then waste time because they didn't fill the form properly.
BTW even if "quick" there is still baggage claim....usually pretty good.....but a potential slow part.
Good luck. And it is not always Chinese...last time I was at KIX ran into very large Vietnamese group with parents and supporters and athletes...very pleasant.
Can't say the same about certain groups from where cutting in line is the norm..
I hate that. Growing up in England you learnt to queue. :)
I have never seen people queue-cutting at immigration. They usually practice their art at theme parks.
