Kumano Kodo with a teen

Our family of three (two adults and a young teen) is considering hiking part of the Kumano Kodo in March 2019. We have done half-day hikes but never a multi-day hike--something we have been wanted to do for a long time. Can someone recommend a good two to three-day route that would be suitable for beginners? We are in reasonably good shape and are planning to train for this.

Nakahechi route is a reliable starter route. You could also break it up to hit the best parts:

1. Takijiri to Chikatsuyu (long first day!)

2. Bus and hike to Hongu

3. Boat to Shingu, see the shrine, train to Nachi, hike Daimonzaka, see the shrine. Very full day.

Kumano Kodo hikes are not that hard. And possibly the 'teen' will prove stronger than you.

Ogumotori and Kogumotori from Nachi Katsuura and Nachi Taisha Shrine to Kawayu/Yunomine Onsen via Koguchi can be recommended.
