Candles in carry on luggage....

Hi there

I have a candle business here in Perth, and I like to take some of my candles over each time as gifts for my Balinese friends, my question is.....can they be put in my hand luggage? I usually bubble wrap them and put them in my checked luggage, but last time 2 got smashed.

Im not sure if wax would count in your on board restrictions, as I know stuff like lipstick does.

Appreciate your comments,

Sam x

Never having taken candles to Bali I am not quite sure.

I think I would get some plastic pipes like drain pipes and wrap the candles carefully and slip them into the pipes.

May sound silly but I hope it helps.

As at November 2011 liquid restrictions were lifted and no longer had to be shown when leaving Australia.

TLM, I have recently left the country and definately had to show my liquids, gels etc. Signs are still up at the airport to show this. What makes you think any different?

I know there was talk at some time about lifting these restrictions but am pretty sure it hasn't happened as yet.

You are correct Ilab. The restrictions will be lifted in 2013.

Hi guys i am so sorry,it was the e mail received regarding the lifting of restrictions in 2013.

We received this from Qantas in November 2011 whilst we were away and because i did not read the entire e mail i thought it was as of then.

So sorry.

Hi Sam - I'd suggest contacting your airline for definitive advice on this. I know that Gel Candles aren't allowed in carry on, but the TSA list (which isn't definitive) doesn't specifically mention wax candles. If they do allow them, I would certainly expect some extra scrutiny.
