Can anyone give me a guideline how much to tip a guide, driver, security escort for a day tour, and how much in restaurants and hotels/guesthouses?

very little service culture in PNG so tipping is not really expected

if you want to give gifts to someone who has been helpful then any small amount of money is always appreciated but gifts of things that are hard to buy in PNG are especially appreciated - there are several posts on the best gifts in the different regions eg large fish-hooks on the islands
