Antalya to Kusadasi in one day?

My daughter and I will be spending 10 days along the Turkish coast between Antalya and Selcuk. We are thinking of taking a detour to Samos for a night. Is it possible to drive from Antalya to Kusadasi in time for a ferry to Samos or that just a ridiculous idea?! Would it be better to explore Samos Town as a day trip from Selcuk? Thanks for any insight.

Hello 2tk,

İ was just wondering if you have any particular reason to visit Samos. Otherwise if it is just to see a Greek island then İ suggest t visit Rhodes from Fethiye. Fethiye is just 2,5 hours from Antalya and Rhodes town is absolutely stunning. Either make just a day trip or you can spend an extra day (but be sure there are ferries on the 2nd day as well)

İf that does not work and you have 10 days along the coast you could plan your days like this

1 Antalya for 1 day

move on to Kas for 2 days

move on to Fethiye for 2 days (at least, the town with the surroundings are worth a longer stay!)

take the afternoon bus to Selcuk, it is direct and then you have also your 2 days in there to visit Samos.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! We were thinking of Samos because of it's location (we'll be based in Selcuk for 5 days). We will be in the Antalya area for 3 nights (we are coming from Ankara before then). We do have a night or two we haven't booked yet, so we'll look into Rhodes -- thank you for the suggestion. Any place you'd recommend staying the night?

Thanks again.

İn Rhodes we stay in the Spirit of the Knights, a lovely boutique hotel just under the wall, away from the busy part. Take 2 days from Selcuk in that way, İ stayed in Samos many years ago in simple pensions in Kokkari, a lovely small village. Samos has had bad luck with forest fires since then so İ do not know how it looks now. We visited Vourliates high up in the mountains, and no tourism at all.

Cheers again!

florence, the best way to travel from Antalya to Kusadasi is to fly from Antalya to Izmir and transfer to Kusadasi from Izmir Airport. Sun Express Airlines has excellent direct flights from Antalya to Izmir. You can use "http://bulucak.com/default.aspx" for domestic flight schedules and fares. You can take the local train from Airport to Selcuk and a midibus to Kusadasi from Selcuk. This is the fastest way.

However you can also take a bus from Antalya Otogar to Izmir Otogar, and transfer to another minibus to Kusadasi from Antalya Otogar.

good luck,

this is to the original poster.

<<We will be in the Antalya area for 3 nights (we are coming from Ankara before then). We do have a night or two we haven't booked yet,<<<

If you are travelling around the coast for 10 day do look at stopping in Cirali for a night or 2.

it sounds like Cirali would be the perfect place for you to relax and inwind... Cirali is a small village located about 1 hours drive southwest from Antalya ( 1.5 hrs from the Antalya airport ) and boasts a beautiful secluded 4 km beach, the ruins of Olympos, the flames of the Chimeara, as well as a protected area by the WWF for the nesting of the Caretta sea turtles.

also you can look at my photos for ideas

If you want to see a place were time has stood still in Turkey and experience what Turkey used to be like about 15 to 20 yrs ago before the influx of all-inclusive and package holidays of the last decade, then Cirali is the place for this..

Cirali is a great little village, nice clean beach and a mix of sand and pebbles, ruins of Olympos and the flames of "Chimaera" the world''s oldest and best-known natural "eternal flame".

No mass tourism or 5 star hotels. Just nice family own hotels and pansiyons. Small shops, quiet bars, restaurants, and no discos. It is more of a place for nature lovers and chilling out. It can be too quiet for some if you are looking for more in the way of and actiive nightlife..

then you can move onto Kas or Fethiye
