i stay at GK central in Disctric 1, from reading this forum...you are right! leaving the terminal...turn left unting you find the taxi stand, somehow we can choose any taxi what we want to use. somehow most tourists are choosing vinasun or mailinh, so waiting for these taxi was quite a while. the cost was around 150.000dong but i gave the driver 200.000 dong (i dont mind though)....compared what the hotel would charged to pick me up from the airport 650.000dong
Hello,
We just recently returned from Vietnam and had a great experience with a local guy called Andy.(booking2.trustcarrental@gmail.com). We pre arranged all our transfers to and from hotels in Ho Chi Minh, Danang and Hanoi. We had a driver with an air-conditioned van waiting at every airport. It was a personalised service as Andy would confirm we were ok every time we were picked up from the airport and dropped off at the hotel. Being a local he also arranged local tours and experiences that were a little different to the standard tours. All prices were great especially compared to booking from the local hotels. Andy was very friendly and knowledgeable. I thoroughly recommend him.
67frankt what was the charge for Tan Son Nadt to District 1 HCMC ?
Cheers Ross
Still a bit confused with reading these posts, I only understand to take Vinasun or Mai Linh Taxi from the airport.
I will be landing at the TSN Terminal 2: International flights airport, do I exit the arrivals area, then go left to the taxi stands or find the Vinasun dispatcher or head to the departures areas and catch a Vinasun or Mai Linh Taxi offloading passengers? What is the least confusing way? Thanks!
Edited: 10 years agoDear Galileo.
This thread was started in May last year and you're#76 post.
If you haven't understood the instructions by now you're going to have great difficulty just crossing the road in the HCMC traffic.
You have it correct in the first half of your post. Stick to that plan.
Galileo the use of the departure tactic is only if things go wrong on the day.
Cheers Ross
I could start a new thread and ask the same question over again if you don't like to answer old threads.
I definitely will have trouble crossing the roads in HCMC traffic since it's my first visit and not an arsepert.
Thanks for your priceless reconfirmation on taking the Vinasun or Mai Linh Taxi.
Actually crossing the road is not as scary as you first might imagine.
The reason is the mind set of the Vietnamese riding their motorbikes is they dont want to hit you and secondly they don't think its strange that you're walking across the road in front of them because that's exactly what they do every day themselves. They will simply judge your walking pace and decide which side they will pass you on making sure they dont run into you.
Once you can accept that it will be much easier for you. I cant however say the same about the bus drivers though. So only step out into motorbike traffic and not a bus or truck bearing down on you.
Safe travel in Vietnam.
Warm regards Dirty Pierre.
