Road conditions DaLat to MuiNe

Doing this trip on 19 December. Unsure as if to go by bus or private car/taxi. Last reports on this site indicate road is dangerous and a scarrey experience. Can anyone who has done it recently advise conditions and best way to travel.

It's only bad if there's some heavy rain causing damages to the road (like last year).

Seems to be OK recently, as I haven't read about much rain, rock slide, or damage in the area.

A few rough spots for motorbikes, but shouldn't be a problem for larger vehicles. A car, obviously, can handle the road better than a big bus.

Check with the locals on the ground; however, to make sure that there aren't any new condition that might arise just before of your arrival.

Cheers and safe travel.

When/Where were these last reports? We took this route up to Da Lat from Mui Ne in March. It was pretty smooth/decent with the exception of a short segment being repaired (about 50m).

This one is for Tân, since he can read Vietnamse:

Basically, the road was damaged last year and they didnt repair ìt until sometimes in March (thereabout), according to another VN report.

A local traveler reported, also in VN, that when they traveled in May, it had been repaired, but there were still a few rough spots for motorbikes.

https:/…

That was confirmed by one of the vids I had posted, where you can see some pot holes. (Similarly to what Tan described.)

Those vids were after Tan had traveled the Luong Son - Dai Ninh pass.

You guys have to remember that the rainy season is usually between April and late October in that area.

The repair method in Viet Nam is NOT anywhere meant to be permanent.

It's not done often either.

Only the major highways like Highway 1 are regularly maintained.

Case in point is that they did not repair that road (highway 28B) for several months after the rainy season last year.

Even now, after they had repaired it; there's no telling how bad it can get again 3, 5, 7 months later.

Cheers,

John
