Vietnam ATMs and money changes

Hi, do ATMs issue VND or USD and are money changes plentiful in tourist areas or do I use banks to exchange money? Are ATMs safe without skimming devices? And is there an ATM at HCM arrivals? Sorry, multiple questions here but just organising our funds and will need smallish money for taxi on arrival and to get started. Thanks RR

All ATM's in the country issue VND and there are plenty of them all over the place. Many only let you take out approx $ 150 at a time and there are fees. Cash is king here and can change at banks, gold shops, travel agents and some hotels. ATM's are safe and they have them at the airport as well as currency exchange booths.

Have you read the Top Question "ATM, Dong or USD" on right hand side of this page? You could change part of your money at the airport money change counters (after coming out of customs) and change the rest as needed in the city at money changers or jewelry shops. Exchange rates at the airport are not much different from what you get in the city.
