Don't leave home without this list - please!

The following list of Chiang Mai Emergency Numbers will help you deal with most emergency situations you may find yourself involved in while here on holiday.

Chiang Mai has well equipped emergency services and world class medical facilities. In addition to the normal Police, Chiang Mai also has a Tourist Police section with officers speaking English, as well as some other languages, who are available 24 hours a day.

If you should experience an emergency which you cannot deal with by yourself or are involved in an accident, the important thing to remember is not to panic. Stay calm and call the relevant emergency number.

If you are not sure which number to call, Chiang Mai has an Emergency Help number, 191, who will pass on your call to the correct service. Government Offices in Chiang Mai are open from 8:30am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Also, please remember to make copies of your passport and put one copy in each of your bags and an extra one in your money belt. You do have a money belt....don't you? I sincerely hope you don't need any of these, but if you do here's the list. Marie (nannyre)

I've added a link to this thread on the "Emergencies" travel article which itself is linked to the "General Advice" FAQ.

Good info.

@QueenslandWen...you're more than welcome. When I came here and had every bit of money, passport, ID's, return ticket, drivers license, credit cards, debit card-EVERYTHING stolen and had to "entend my holiday" here in the Kingdom for 10 days I wish I had some of this information. @Caroline8-thank you. Thank you very much. Wherever I travel to I always try to take a list of important contact details - often a huge problem doing it on my own. So your post is much appreciated. Again. thank you.

This is fantastic, thank you. We leave in 17 days - your list has already been printed and ready for packing. So looking forward to the shopping. I loved the shopping in Phuket and from what I've read I'm going to love the shopping in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai even more.
