Agoda is a Scam

Anyone who books on Agoda, be careful! they quote $x per night but when you click PAY, they add up to $30 extra in taxes per night which makes them cost same price as other travel agents, also if you log into your AGODA REWARDS account and book, they add at least another $6 per night onto the tax rate to cover the points you earn by booking through them, a way around this is to book without logging into your account, then contact them with the booking details and tell them to add your agoda reward points to your account, they may email you back and say they have done it but there is no way of actually checking to see if they have or not as points get added 6 weeks after you check out... Agoda is a great travel booking service and they do no such thing. I have found them to provide significant discounts compared to other travel booking services full in. Price set before you book is the same afterward, You have a choice to opt out prior to hitting the accept button.

Taxes are clearly shown at the time of payment.

It may not be a scam but its certainly not made clear when looking at prices that when you come to pay an extra amount is added per night. Its not a tax but a booking fee. IMO this is not a very honest way for a major website to conduct itself.

Agoda is not a Scam but I agree that it's website abd pricing policy is not as transparent as it could be. However, when the results of a price/availability check come up, it clearly says at the bottom of the pricing panel "All rates are exclusive of hotel tax and service fees" so that is before you start on the booking process and that is stated again and inclusive prices shown BEFORE you make a commitment to book.

It would be better and more consistent with most booking sites to show rates inclusive from the outset.

This is not correct, when you book, it says how much you total is EXCLUDING TAX, in small grey writing under it says the tax amount, it doesnt say that this amount is PER NIGHT until you work out why you just paid so much on the final page, you don't get told the total amount until after you have booked.

In regard to the Agoda Rewards, try it yourself, they add an extra $6 per night in 'tax' if you log in with your Agoda Rewards account so you are covering the amount of money you may get back in points!

Now thats a major SCAM!

Since the amount of tax and service charge is a % it doesn't matter whether it says "per night" as it is a % of the total whether that is one night or twent nights.

What I don't like ablout the agoda booking system is that it does not show the full price of your booking prior to entering your credit card details. You've got to do a bit of arithmetic yourselves to work out what the final price will.

Its not a percentage, its a DOLLAR amount, and it only shows the amount for one night, if they were a decent booking service they would either:

1. Show the total amount to be charged to your account before taking payment, as all respected booking sites do

2. Show the total tax amount under the total room cost amount, its not hard, just multiply the tax per night by number of nights.

Their current practice is highly deceptive.

To add in previous post, it will be hard if you are working on tax in different countries (not to mention some will have tax then plus service charge).

When checking the rate and booking, I dont even bother to check rate of Agoda, always exclude them out, my usual website is expedia, hotels and hotelsclub, and company's website. Just too hard to work out the total rate.
