Help for first timers

Need help as we are thinking of traveling to Thailand this year.

We are looking for a location which has plenty of shopping and places to eat as well as good beach location. Wife is shopaholic and I am sun seeker. Usually go to Goa in February March so looking for somewhere like Calangute or Candolim. I know there is no comparison but looking for towns/citys with similar amenities.

Looking at web it seems the best time to go to avoid the rain is late November/early December, can anyone recommend a location as we have absolutely no idea.

Phuket would probably suit your needs I would think.

Agree with Chris, look at Patong on Phuket island.

But you are a bit out with your preferred dates, the dry season in most of Thailand does not really kick in until December then lasts through to April. Samui and nearby places an exception to this. November best avoided.

December is definitely a better time for the weather but later that month you’ll be there in peak time for tourism. As such, prices will increase and your preferred accommodation may well be booked out, so it would be best to decide on your location and book early.

Thanks for the help. We are restricted to November/December as we are in Goa February/March. Is Patong Phuket wet in November?
