In general is it best to book these in advance, in UK? or can it be left till arriving, not going till second week of November

looking to fly from UK to Mumbai, stay for say 3 days, then to Chennai(3 days) then to Kochi(6 days) then back to UK, probably via Mumbai

times are flexible

if you don't care about the rising price than you can book the flights on the arrival. I would advise to have the flights at least 1 month before the travel

If you leave it to the last minute prices can increase quiet severely, particularly at weekends and when events are on.

I'd booked as early as possible and check the price includes hold luggage and the allowance allocated, as most internal flights allow only 15kg... ( air India 25kg) on domestic legs not combined with an international flight.

Book before but use air India only as luggage allowance is supportive.
