Grand Wailea Resort - pools

Does anyone know if you can use the pools at the Grand Wailea Resort if you are not a guest? I have heard amazing things about this place and would love to hang out here for the day by the pools. For anyone that has been, is it worth checking out?

Thanks.

You can use the pools without being a guest. We have done it but they do ask that you buy a "pool pass" if you are not a guest. It is definitely worth a visit. They have this amazing swimm up Grotto Bar, built in water slides and incredibly soft sand. If you have children I suggest you buy the passes, if it's just you and another person you can get away without buying the pass.

The use of the pool is for registered guests only. Hotel management limits the amount of 'passes' sold to outside guests and there are times that they are not available at all (such as when the hotel is oversold). If you are not a guest and still insist on using their pool, you will be asked to leave by security. And yes, they do patrol this...especially during the summer months. In my opinion, it's really not cool to do this. You can certainly walk the grounds of the Grand Wailea and check out their pool though. : -)

I second what Pilakia said. It is not fair to paying guests for non-paying guests to use their pool, take ups chairs, shade, etc. Unless you can buy a pass and swim there legitimtely, don't crash the pool. They have wrist bands for those that are supposed to be there, so you'll just be asked to leave, anyway. Go to a nice beach instead.

We'll be in Maui in 2 weeks and the Grand W looks amazing! We'd love to visit this pool area one of the days we're there - anyone know how much the pool pass costs?

Is there a family rate?

thanks

I heard that a pass is half the price of their cheapest room and it allows four people to use the pools. And they definately use the wrist bands at this property.

A travel advisor reviewer claimed to get a great rate on the grand wailea site. It may be worth it to stay one nite and use the pools.

The 'guest pool pass', when available, is expensive. One way you can actually enjoy the use of the pool for two days is to book one night. You can use the facilities the day you check in AND the day you check out!

I hope nobody dignifies that last question with an accurate response. People pay a lot of money to stay at the resort and enjoy those pools. Crashers don't belong. Pay like everyone else or go to the beach.

I second what Yzer said. Don't be a loser and buy the pass if you want to go.
