Placencia,Hopkins or Ambergris Caye as a Beach Vacation?

We plan to spend 10 days during spring break w/ our 2 kids (ages 5 and 11yrs resp) - I did narrow down our choices and would like to spend 3-4 nights @ ChaaCreek Lodge, CAYO (visiting Tikal and Mountain Pine Ridge) and then head either down the Hummingbird frwy for some beach time (looked at Belizian Dreams and Hamanasi)or fly to Ambergris

I am not sure if a) it would be worth to do both beach locations (mainland and Caye) or just go eitehr or. Any recommendations on it? REad about the bugs @ Hamanasi and was wondering if this might be just a seasonal issue or everywhere on the beach in Belize.

If anybody has some recoomendation and has been to all 3 places I would highly recommand some input. One other choice is as well Inn at Robert's Grove, have been reading most reviews but seems that there a lot oof good choices- not sure if it is worth the extra hassle to spend the rest of 6 days on 2 different beaches.

Thanks for any Input

Chaa Creek is an excellant choice, one of the best lodges of its type in the region. Hopkins is a small mainland village along the coast, 10 miles from the reef, both hotels you mentioned are fine. Ambergris is our most visited destination a mile from the reef. Placencia is a peninsula, less developed than Ambergris, more to offer than Hopkins, with a quaint village and RG is another wonderful choice of places to stay.
