It really depends on the kinds of things you and the others really want to see and do.

Twenty one days seems quite excessive. Are you planning on going anywhere else in CA? Any other state?

Have you considered going to San Diego? Maybe the coastal drive to San Francisco?

Can you tell us a little more info? Such as what else you may be doing as suggested.

Each City has thier own things that make them special and alot are worth switching Hotels for. Alot of things are quite spread out in California and in Southern California where its likely you may want to visit.

While there would be Tours to some of the attractions in Southern California from Anaheim through Grayline tours and Starline Tours, if you dont have a Car, you will spend alot of time traveling to get to different attractions. And that could get quite expensive.

For example... Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo.. is about a 90 min drive from Anaheim in good traffic. Universal Studios and Hollywood is a 1 hour drive in good traffic. So...your looking at some time there out of your day each day for travel and more if you take tours which usually need at least 1 hour just for pickups ect.

If you are set with renting a Car though ect and really dont want to move Hotels ect, you can obviously just stay in Anaheim if you are aware of what kind of travel times you are looking at ( and those are in very good traffic) There are some from where you live who do prefer just to stay put, so its not unheard of to want to do that.

For a longer stay though in Anaheim, you may want to consider the Residence Inn Maingate which is set up like a low rise Condo like setting with full kitchens, free full breakfast, and some weeknight light dinners. Free Parking. Its also about a 15 min walk to Disneyland with Art Shuttle service for a small fee per person if you dont want to walk. Its also next door to the Anaheim Gardenwalk with lots of restaurants.

Or, there are various other extended stay Hotels a little farther from Disneyland. And there would also be Condo's and some homes for rentals in the area of Walnut/Magic Way which are somewhat popular that would be about a 10 min walk to the Mickey and Friends Parking lot which has a free tram that goes into Disneyland from there.

Here is a Map of Hotels in the Disneyland area so you can see where things are located. The Disneyland Main Entrance is off of Harbor blvd near where it says "East shuttle Area" on the Map.

Hopefully you are also aware that Australian and New Zealand Residents can purchase a special 10 day Disneyland Pass thats available through a travel agent in those areas.

We did 15 nights in Anaheim. We rented a car and just drove wherever we wanted. We had done San Diego, Las Vegas and Grand Canyon on a previous trip, so didn't feel we needed to see them again. We did think about doing a day trip to San Diego, but decided against it.

We spent most of our time at Disneyland (10 day pass) but also went to Universal Studios, LA, Hollywood etc.

We stayed in a condo just the other side of Disneyland. The walk was easy and enjoyable to walk through Downtown Disney. It was so nice to have a homely feel when staying so long.

If this is your first visit to California, I would first make a list of all the sites and places you want to visit and then decide on places to stay. I am sure there are folks who would love nothing but to hang out in Disneyland but most of the regulars on the CA forum would suggest you stay just the number of days you want to visit the the themeparks. Lovely Orange County beaches, San Diego Santa Monica, Los Angeles are all places to stay and experience. With 21 days you could do a bit of SoCal and then head up the central coast to the Big Sur and do Yosemite NP as well. Please check out the California forum as this is a great forum for Disneyland and theme parks

The places I have mentioned in my previous Post are likely to be the most appealing to you from what you said you wanted, so you may want to take a look at the extended stay Hotel mentioned, and the Holiday rentals through something like the rental sites here on Trip Advisor.

If you are unsure of an area after looking through some of those, you can always post back here for more info

You may also want to include a budget per night for a place to stay, as well as your dates, as prices can vary widely with the different seasons. We can also tell you what may be going on for your visit, and what dates you may want to avoid so you can adust your schedule around that.

For places to stay in the LA area, its a good idea to post in that forum so they can give you good suggestions of where to stay

Yeah, generally, if you're going to be touring around LA for several days before / after your days at Disney, it makes more sense to stay somewhere in central LA like Beverly Hills, else you'll be doing a lot of back and forth driving between Anaheim and central LA - usually 45 - 60 minutes each way but can be worse when traffic is bad.

As for specific hotel suggestions, please share with us your hotel budget per night in USD and we can suggest to you your options in and around Beverly Hills (which as you might imagine can be a pricey area for hotels).

With 6 people, your options in LA County are severely limited for hotels. I think I'd looking for a house/condo on VRBO and FlipKey starting with West Hollywood.

If you want help finding someplace to stay in L.A. County, you need to post a budget. There may be some suites near Hollywood - but you need to read the FAQ and post on the Los Angeles forum to find out more.

You'll need 2 rooms otherwise. It's 4 persons per room most places, unless they have suites/family suites, which is what you should be looking into in Anaheim if budget is at all an issue.

yuck...sorry...not a blg anaheim / la fan. but sounds like you want to focus on that area. i'd suggest that in anaheim, you make sure you get a place with a kitchen. eating out there gets "old" really fast. since you'll be eating at the theme parks during the days, it's nice to have breakfast or dinner at "home". i'd suggest you could stay in anaheim for 5 nights or so, then go to la for a week, head down to san diego for a week and spend your last few nights back in anaheim to hit the rides you loved.
