First time flying from JFK......suggestions, please.

I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to Grenada in Feb/Mar 2019 & the (preliminary) flight searches indicate a non-stop from JFK is available. We'd be driving from South Central PA the night before so we'd want to stay somewhere near the airport that has a shuttle & parking. We've done this from Newark several times with no problem. I prefer the non-stop over having to make a connection & the worry & hassle that comes with it. Is this airport comparable to Newark in size & layout?

Map of the airport:

I don’t know facts and figures, but JFK is most definitely larger than Newark.

You might see if there are any Park and Fly offers at JFK adjacent hotels https://www.parksleepfly.com/new-york-jfk-ai…

There are no hotels on the airport proper, but many offer free shuttles to the Federal Circle Airtrain stop.

JFK is substantially bigger. there are 8 passenger terminals as well as all of the other thing usual i large airports (cargo terminals, storage and repair hangars and a host of other service). There is an Airtrain that circle the airport from the various passenger terminals and Federal Circle - where the pick ups for hotel and car rentals are. Be careful picking a hotel there - many are not pleasant and do not have restaurants - and the area is all multi-lane highways - no local services.
