Seattle Couple Seeking Mississippi Route/Destination Ideas

Hello Community,

My husband and I are ticking off 4 states (OK, AK, MISS and AL) during a driving trip. We will be driving from AK to MISS and have not idea where to go - north, south, east or west? I'm somewhat attracted to the Gulf.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Lora,

Seattle

Hello Lora!

When I get up to my laptop, I will add my US Hwy 61 List.

OK, on a laptop now:

Those are basically for US Hwy 61.

As mentioned in the PM, US Hwy 65 is less scenic, and other than Lake Village, Lake Providence, and my grandfather's old plantation, Broad Acres, off of LA568, on Lake St John, not all that much to see, except for farm land.

Best of luck,

Hunt,

You have gone beyond the cal of duty. Thanks so much for this amazing list.

May I return the favor if you make it out to Seattle?

Oh no.

For 18 years, I was a "native," but then moved away.

I still have a fondness for my home state, plus travel back, to visit my remaining family there, and appreciate those visits - perhaps more enjoyment, than when I lived there?

Same for New Orleans, my wife's "stomping grounds," and a large part of my life. We likely appreciate it more now, than when we lived there, and as we still have family there too, do get back with some consistency.

We both love the Deep South, even though we have now been gone for 40 years, and do get back to enjoy. My wife has a "lifetime subscription" to "Southern Living," and also "New Orleans Magazine," along with "Garden & Gun." All the while, living in Arizona!

Most of all, please enjoy greatly! Mississippi is a wonderful, and diverse state.

Agree with Hunt. Great info. Love Vicksburg for Civil War battlefield national park and eating at Rusty's, 10 South or Walnut Hill.
