Probably Baltimore, but you can find them in Annapolis and Ocean City.

Koco's Pub & Faidley's in Baltimore are two of my favorites.

Crabcake Factory in Ocean City.

I'd vote for Stoney's but understand this question starts a religious war back here.

I've lived in the area by entire adult life and there are many great places, but for me, it's Stoney's cause they're big, all crab and reasonably priced.

Last i checked they had three locations -- Broome island (on the water) solomans island (on the water) and prince Frederick (strip mall).

I had some excellent Crab Cakes @ Aqua Terra in downtown Annapolis. This was the first restaurant we dined in on our first visit to the East Coast. You can book reservations on opentable for this restaurant. :)

I have to agree that relying on Balt mag is a pretty safe bet.

It comes down to how much one wants to pay, what type of restaurant one wants to visit, whether you want to go to town or not.

For me, unless I want a filet mignon with my crab cake or also want to do some town-type sight seeing, I go for a no-frills, no table cloth-type place, away from the crowds of Baltimore or Annapolis proper. I love both towns, but sometimes don't want to do anything but eat my crab cake and not pay the higher-rent "surcharge".

Well I live in N. Va so Stoney's in Prince Frederick--in a strip mall. I just know it's going to be really good (and big). Not going for ambiance or the view. Those are a longer drive.

We can get there and back mid-day without getting stuck in beltway traffic.

Ours too, complete control over filler (none) and spices, but you'd be surprised how difficult it is to get fresh local crab meat here in No Va when in season.

Since we typically have to drive to Maryland to get it anyway, we just eat a crab cake there and bring crabs back home.

We like Santoni's (small family owned grocery with great prepared foods)
