Airport to hotel with tired, probably grumpy small children.

Was wondering what would be the best/cheapest way to get from ORD to our Chicago hotel (Thompson on East Bellevue). We've got 2 children 4 and 7, traveling from the UK, and landing at 18.35, so I'm going to make the assumption that the kids will be exhausted, if not asleep. So train or bus is out of the question.

Should we go by taxi, uber or use a transfer company like Go? Trying to balance budget and convince. What kind of cost are we looking at?

Keep in mind that Ubers/taxis are not going to have car seats (if that matters to you). But definitely get an Uber to choose your size/style or a taxi instead of a shuttle.

Uber for sure, never ever the shuttle.

I would take a taxi, uber will probably surge at that time.

Landing at 18:35 means you won't be out of the terminal before 19:35 minimum, highly doubtful surge will be in effect. Just check with Uber if surge is on before you finalize the ride request. Otherwise use a taxi, definitely not a shuttle.

Taxi or Uber. I find it faster to go to the waiting taxi line rather than call for uber. It will take you time to get through customs and immigration so you'll miss rush hour.

You can treat the kids the next morning, across the street from The Thompson, at The Original Pancake House.

There are so many Uber drivers in Chicago that it almost never surges anymore. There is also Lyft.

No one can tell when it is going to surge. The purpose of the surge pricing is to get more cars to the area so it rarely lasts long.
