Columbus Day Holiday Weekend

We (two seniors) are planning a three week visit flying from UK to Las Vegas on 28 September and driving next day to Zion (2nights) Bryce (1) Notom (1) Valley of the Gods (1) Monument Valley (1) Page (4) Marble Canyon (2 inc day trip to North Rim) Yavapai South Rim (3) Flagstaff or Williams (1) Seligman (1) Las Vegas (3 inc day trip to Death Valley). We would welcome advice on the itinerary and especially on the stay in Page which seems too long but we aren't sure how much congestion to expect on roads and in tourist destinations during the holiday weekend.

Columbus Day is a much more busy holiday in eastern states. Congestion is not likely on the roads, and crowds should not be much more than usual for fall.

Thank you - this is very helpful. Our only other experience of travelling in the US around this date was in New England, where it was very busy. Here in the Uk we always try to avoid travelling on holiday weekends because traffic can be horrendous.

Very busy in New England indeed because of the fall colors. Not su much for the West as Bob said. I would not want to fret about it.

It's still a 1.5 hours drive from Marble Canyon to North rim and it's not adviced to drive in the dark. Staying at the rim is an unforgettable experience and I recommend to try to stay there.

October is a great time for a visit to Death Valley NP. A daytrip won't do it justice imo.

With 3 nights at SR (maybe one day too long...) I'd drive from GC to Las Vegas in one day with a stop in Seligman and add a night to Death Valley.

What do you mean by Notom? There's Notom Bullfrog rd but most people stay for the night in Torrey. Notom Bullfrog rd is unpaved.

Valley of the Gods B&B is great but it's only just some 45 minutes to get to Monument Valley.

With the time you have maybe consider to add Moab for several nights and limit the time in Page and Marble Canyon. Just mho.
