Cycling holiday in Slovenia

Hi - I'm looking for any recommendations for a cycling holiday in Slovenia, late September.

-Either a good centre to stay, where we might be able to do 4-5 days of trips of 30-35 miles,we'd rather have some hills than totally flat. We like quiet 'untouristy' places - from what I've read that means avoiding Bled?

Or can anyone recommend a good company to do a cycle tour with?

And any information about roads would be appreciated - which areas are very busy with fast traffic, for instance.

Thanks in advance for any help!

In Slovenia is quite hard to get flat road anyway. Late September is not so bussie anymore.

All over the country you can find some quite roads. End of September is also a little colder, especially on the north.

Option:

Bled: to Pokljuka plateu, Mežakla, Kropa, Kranjska gora

Tolmin or Goriska brda: will be warmer+harvest in vineyards, All Goriska brda, from Tolmin to Čepovan, Kolovrat, Kobarid, but it's quite big hills there,

Vipava or Ajdovščina area, warmer, harvest, some lonely road

Dolenjska and Bela krajina region.

In that region I know some people who love to cycling, so they can join you on the trip and help you with info. No company, just friends. Preatty untourist region.

Do you want to stay in one place or move?

Do you will rent a car?

You will have your's bike or want to rent?

What about mountain biking?

Thanks suhi200 - some ideas there.

We would probably want to hire bikes as transporting them is just so difficult. Ideally we would stay in one centre and explore from there, but would also very happily do an organised tour ie with route instructions, and luggage moved on for you each day.

How widely spoken is English (or possibly German) in Slovenia?

sorry, I should have said - road or good trail biking, not mountain biking - we're all getting a bit too old and creaky for that!

Hi

English is widely spoken all around the country. If somebody don't understand English, try German, ha,ha

This, I think is a English man in Slovenia.
