Any suggestions for reading about Poland before our trip. Fiction or non-fiction, blogs, websites.

"Poland" by Michener. Best book I've ever read. It follows a fictional pair of families for 1000 years to the start of the Solidarity movement. The historical parts are real and accurate.

I would also suggest the books "God's Playground, A History of Poland" by Norman Davies.

"Year 1920" by Marshall Jozef Pilsudski. This book is very difficult to find in English. It details the Battle of Warsaw against the Red Army that arguably saved Western Europe from communist tyranny. It's a great book.
