Wine tours not starting in Sydney

Hello

We are planning are NSW/QLD roadtrip in a camper in Nov 2012 and therefore want to stay in the HV rather than make a day trip out from Sydney.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a wine tour that starts/ends in the HV itself? or suggestions about doing our own without having to drive between?! (and any suggestions for a campsite would be welcomed!)

Many Thanks

x

There are several options but a fun way to do it is by horse and carriage. I did this with a group of friends a few years ago and it was an enjoyable day. There are also small group bus tours if you want to get around in more comfort.

There are quite a number of different touring companies which do tours starting and ending in the Hunter Valley. If you have a look at this website:

winecountry.com.au/toursandtransport/tours-i…

it gives you a list of those that operate within the Hunter Valley. We're a big fan of wine country limousines and with 6 people it actually works out to be better value than the minibus tours and we get to select the wineries we wish to go to.

As to which one is better it will depend on what type of experience you're looking for. If you're into wine and want to try the out of the way places then a smaller boutique tour would be best, if you're happy to go along in a big group and try mainstream wineries then something like the Cheers Bus would be better.
