castle rock

Is the walk to Castle Rock suitable for 70 year olds, one with a not so good ankle. How long does the walk take from the carpark. Thanks

You mean the Granite Skywalk?

Link here-

I would say it wouldn’t be that suitable- it’s a fair old climb up then a bit of scrambling to the actual Skywalk. But you can always try and see how you go!

The other walk mentioned in the link sounds more suitable- though I can’t remember doing it. There’s other walks too like the Tree in the Rock which is easy plus scenic drives. So a nice area for a visit and enjoy a picnic in the forest.

I would say it totally depends on your fitness- you would need a good level of fitness /cardio. To just get up the hill to top is stretching for some, then climbing through the boulders to get to the metal staircase. You get a nice view from before the boulders, but the skywalk is the best part.
