Great stay in Leura- HayView House

Just back from a lovely short break in the Blue Mountains where our girls group spent a few days catching up and seeing some sights. I think it was made all the better by our stay at Hayview. It is just outside of Leura (less than 5 minute drive) and just beautiful. I was going to write a review but single houses dont meet the TA guidelines. HayView is an artichectural triumph (in my opinion)- lots of zinc alum, stainless steel and glass. It is basically 2 pavilions- a sleeping zone and an entertainment zone and very well decked out- good furnishings, linens and kitchen stuff. IPod docking station, TV, DVD's etc. Great views and some nice street walking to be done.

Coming from Perth we were super impressed with the flowers/trees- azaleas, rhododendrons, warratahs, etc of the Blue Mountain region. All guaranteed to wither and die in sunny hot WA!

We spent a fair bit of time browsing and shopping the strip in Leura and then Katoomba. Lots to keep a group of girls entertained. Lots of vintage stuff too.

Ate at Fresh (ok), Red Door (pretty good coffee), Blue Elephant in Katoomba (great organic lunch and good coffee) and had afternoon tea at Lillianfels.

Highlight for me was a walk from Echo Point in Katoomba to the Leura Cascades taking in the 3 Sisters. Good terrain and enjoyable walking conditions- quite a few stairs but nothing daunting. We were very fortunate to see a pair of Lyre birds in the forest that proved difficult to capture on film, but what an experience!

Would love to go back and do some more walking- 3 nights is too short !

Feb 2011: We also just stayed at Hayview in Leura. Agree that it made the the trip all the better. What I loved the most was being the first one up and having the living area to myself - sipping tea as the sun rose, looking out over the expansive view of trees.

Although the house is modern it is also warm, comfortable, private and beautifully equipped with everything that helps make a house a home. We stayed for a week but next time we'll stay a lot longer.”

January 2012: We have just returned from a fantastic week at HayView. The house is amazing and has everything you could possibly need - plenty of cooking equipment, plates, cutlery etc. The views from the Paviliion are just breathtaking especially on a cloudless blue sky and early in the morning. The Cottage has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We were a group of five including two children and with the house so well-equipped the children were also well-catered for especially for the couple of cooler, rainy days spent inside.

It had been a number of years since our previous visit to the Blue Moutains and it did not disappoint. Though it was extremely busy between the Christmas-New Year period we were thrilled to see the Three Sisters, go on the rides at Scenic World, tour through two caves at Jenolan Caves and go on lots of walks to see Wentworth Falls, Leura Cascades, and the many other scenic areas.

On one evening we had dinner at Echoes Restaurant - what a meal and the view from the restaurant over the valley was truly beautiful. The good and service was exquisite, though a little more expensive than what we thought, but nonetheless absolutely worth it and it was a real treat!

We hope to return to the Blue Moutains for a repeat visit and would definitely stay at HayView again - we cannot recommend it highly enough!

I went to Leura in May with my boyfriend. We spent 3 nights in a Studio called pussywillow. It was the best weekend away I've ever had. Amazing place to stay. It is on the same property as a place called Leura Lush. It's a seperate apartment under Leura Lush has its own parking, side access and entry. Would definitely recommend to any couple. Very romantic place with king bed (and electric blankets :) ). Seperate toilet to shower / spa bath. Little lounge area and kitchenette that we managed to cook breakfast and lunch in. Also has really good check in system. Key is located in safety box on site. Really good for after hours arrival.
