Free camping Tasmania

Free park camp sites.

Has Tasmania got free camp sites like they have in Queensland? We have hired a self-contained motor-home for 12 days in May.Did the same in Queensland a couple of yrs. ago.We stayed in motor camps in the cities and manly free camps in the country.Any ideas thanks.

Try this link for a free camping guide book.

It's the camping that's free; not the book.

Also try www.discovertasmania.com for a downloadable caravan and camping guide.

yes - quite a few free camping spots - there's a couple of handy sized books (camping in Tasmania - Boiling Billy Publications and another I can't remember the name of). Lovely little place at Moina right by a lake and stream with platypus. Some are down dirt roads (but not too far) and others 4wd access only but there should still be plenty to choose from.

Tasmania has some "Motorhome Friendly" towns where free camping is allowed.

I suggest the web site of the Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia www.cmca.net.au which may have some info about which towns in Tassie welcome Motorhomes.

Tasmania has many fantastic free campsites. We spent 8 weeks there mostly free camping. Another useful reference book (for the whole of Australia not just Tasmania) is Camps 5
