Planning a trip to the South Island from 4th of September to 18th of September. From the 4th to 9th we will be staying in Queenstown and will have a hire car to go sight seeing with family which are meeting us there. We will be doing a day up to Cardrona and Wanaka also. Then my partner and I have from the 9th to 18th to plan. We were also planning on hiring a car and staying in cheap accommodation. Or if any has any reviews on doing the motor home thing at this time of year let me know.
After a bit of help with itinerary. We are a little stuck though.
From 9th we would leave to somewhere around Franz Josef Glacier and stay a night.
10th do a tour and continue along up to hokitika or greymouth. Stay the night.
11th drive through Arthur’s pass. We are unsure then if there is anything else to see/do around here or anywhere good to stay. Or should we keep driving bAck down to twizel and stay a night there.
12th/13th- head back down to Wanaka to stay a night and explore more.
14/15th- head to teAnau to organise a tour of Milford sound. Possibly do an overnight cruise.
17th - be back in Queenstown to relax and get ready to fly out 18th.
If there is anything that we should consider adding. Stay longer somewhere etc. open to suggestions.
