Looking for a nice restaurant in the city possibly near fed square for 4 people for Christmas eve.

Preferences - not too noisy or crowded seating arrangement, good winelist and cocktail list. Open to all suggestions - chinese, seafood, italian ect.

Price between 50-100 per person excluding drinks.

Thanks!

There are literally hundred of restaurants within walking distance of Fed Square. Just about any of the restaurants along Southbank would fit the bill, and Chinatown is just a couple of blocks away. Then there's a dozen or so restaurants in Fed Square itself which are all quite good. You will be spoiled for choice.

Have a look at www.urbanspoon.com and see if anything takes your fancy. I find the reviews pretty spot on as long as you only look at those less than 6 months old - restaurants change. They will give you an idea of prices too.

Make sure you book early for Xmas eve - like now!

At that price, you will have a large selection of restaurants. As Eva said, Federation Square is centrally located and Southbank (many restaurants), China town, and the city center are all within walking distance.

I am a sucker for red meat. The meat and win co steakhouse in Southbank is worth a visit.

As mentioned there are sooo many restaurants around Fed Square. Take a stroll across the bridge to Southbank there are some excellent restaurants located along the riverbank. ie..

Chinese - Lucky Chan - Southbank.

Italian - www.tuttobene.com.au/ tutto bene - Southbank

The Left Bank - http://www.leftbankmelbourne.com.au/

More expensive ones - Silk - Chinese / Spice Temple - Thai / Rockpool - Fish / Nobu - Japanese - all in Southbank. www.noburestaurants.com

For a very Melbourne experience try Yu-u (Japanese) in Flinders Lane, MoVia in Hosier Lane (Spanish) as suggested above or their off shoot MoVida Next Door (Tapas bar) a few doors down on the corner of Flinders St or Cabinet (Modern Australian) just off Swanston St. All are close to Fed Square and all are down little Laneways and a bit difficult to find in the Melbourne tradition
