That would be one option. You could travel between Hobart and Launceston via the east coast or up the Midland Highway. This page may be helpful for either of those options: tripadvisor.com.au/Travel-g255096-c119432/Ta…

Alternatives could be to stay in either Hobart or Launceston and do day trips from either. There is more than enough to occupy five days from either location. Take a look at the Top Questions on the right hand side of the Hobart and Launceston forum pages. There are pages on day trips there:

The Top 10 Must Sees lists on those pages are also helpful.

Th airlines have very few direct flights from Qld to Tasmania these days......if you can find flights to/from either city that are noticeably cheaper, quicker, or have a better arrival/departure time, I'd book those and remember its not much more than a 2 hr drive direct form L'ton-Hobart.

5 nights/6 days you could do as suggested, days trips from one (either) city and not run out of things to see/do.

Alternatively a quick circular route via East Coast/Midlands Hway is possible.

Or a more relaxed scenic drive ex L'ton along the NW Coast touching into the 'wild(erness)' west.

The possibilities are endless, Your interests and the timing of this trip might bring more ideas.
