Restaurants on Christmas Day

Hi All,

I called a few restaurants up in Cairns to ask for dinner reservation on X'mas day but none of them said that they are open on the day. Do any of you know if restaurants are going to be open on that day? If not, I think we will need to stock up on food!!!

Usually the hotels do a Christmas lunch, there should be Asian restaurants open on Christmas Day, but a lot of others will be closed. Its a pretty dead day here. One idea would be to take a reef trip on Christmas Day , there will be some reef trips going out and will supply lunch,.

Cairns is REALLY quiet on Xmas day and most places are closed, reduced hours and many places may charge a public holiday surcharge as well.

It is probably a good idea to stock up on anything that you think you may need. Gas stations and IGAs will be open for emergencies!
