Currently planning our first trip to Brisbane for a couple of nights between christmas and new year - likely to arrive 30 Dec and leave 1 Jan.
Not really sure where to stay, but have done a bit of research and the CBD seems to be a popular suggestion for people like us. Any other thoughts? I guess we want to be fairly central so that it is easy to get out and see/ do things - we like to eat good food, and drink good coffee, wine and cocktails, as well as take it easy in the parks/ on the beach/ strolling along the river, and also take a bit of time to check out some local sights. Any other cool suburbs that we should look at?
I don't know much about NYE celebrations in Brisbane, but it looks like there will be fireworks over the South Bank, which sounds like the best place to be. Are the free events worth the effort, or are they too busy and best avoided? Happy to look at ticketed events/ dinners/ etc, but not looking to spend hundreds of $s for that pleasure. Any other good locations to watch the fireworks? Are there any hotels that we should look at for our accommodation that may have rooftop pools/ parties on the 31st?
