I will be in Sydney October 9-14 and am trying to find out exactly what is "Crave Sydney"? Their website is pretty generic... has anyone been to this? Is it just a bunch of restaurants offering deals? Anything you would recommend?

A line up of contemporary chefs coming to Sydney for one weekend only (October 1 - 2, 2011). It's your chance to spend a weekend with some of the best and most interesting culinary talents on the planet, including Sydney's stars Peter Gilmore, Mark Best, Neil Perry, Matt Moran, Martin Benn and Tony Bilson.
With a bunch of fascinating chefs heading our way from the USA, Sweden, France, England and across South America (this year's Food Festival theme), this will be the best World Chef Showcase yet, held at our new partner venue, Hilton Sydney.

I heard the night noodle markets were great last year :)
NIGHT NOODLE MARKETS: This is held in Hyde Park - Asian hawker style food such as Peking duck pancakes and pad thai, Chinese lions roam around - this would be better suited to a group/family. When 5-9:30 pm, October 10-14 and 17-21 in Hyde Park
BRUNCH (you have to book ahead) for $25 per head, including coffee or tea on weekends only - the Sydney cafes (some of them are tourist attractions too, putting this on are: The Glenmore Hotel in The Rocks (BBQ brunch buffet), Tea Salon, Victoria Room in Westfield Sydney (cheddar and chive scones with smoke salmon etc and tea cakes), Botanic Gardens Restaurants (muesli with fruit, eggs benedict with ham & smoke salmon and sourdough etc), Hyde Park Barracks (granola, egg, chorizo, waffles etc), CaffeCino in the Hilton - takeaway brunch box
LUNCH for $38 each includes a matched glass of wines or beers with a set main course - in the city this will be at 35 of many noteworthy places including hatted restaurants. THis looks like a good deal considering some of the locations and the classiness of most of the restaurants making this available. Book in advance. There are other places to go to outside the CBD such as Manly, Surry Hills, Pyrmont too.
HIGH TEA - $45 each - check the Crave website as some of these are not daily - includes bubbly - at the Art Gallery, Bistro Fax, MOS Cafe, Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel, The Cortile at the Intercontinental, The Tea Room (QVB), The Westin Sydney and so on.
SUGAR HIT LATE NIGHT DESSERT - for $20 - includes a dessert wine - Ash Street Cellar, Bel Mondo at The Rocks, Guylian Belgian Cafe, Glass at the Hilton, Lobby Bar - Old Holiday Inn The Rocks, Sheraton on the Park, Tony Bilsons and other places too.
PUB PIES with Ale - $20 - ARThouse Hotel, Royal George, Slipp Inn, Lord Nelson - plenty more hotels in Sydney and in some of the inner city pubs.
Then of course there are the special dinners, talks with dinners and so it goes on plus all of the street festivals in the suburbs - take your pick I might try out Auburn this year - which will feature African cuisine (Oct 9). Parramatta Oct. 8., Norton Street is on Oct.30., Strathfield Oct 23., there are also a number of others.
Plus of course there are the special dinners which are more pricey - with the top chefs and visiting chefs as mentioned above by other posters.
