Lan Airlines versus Virgin Blue Vs Jetstar

Which is the most reliable and on time Airlines? I need to book 4 seats for one way travel from Sydney to Auckland for December 10, 2011.

Lan - 213

Virgin Blue - 241

Jet Star - 245

Does any of above allow one free check in baggage?

Also, do you think the price will go down in the future?

fare seems to have gone down already. i got $A203 on the LAN site for 10/12/11. maybe u were $US213

anyway, LAN has a 23 kg free baggage allowance between aus and nz..

it's only a 3 hour flight. go with whomever is the cheapest overall (including any baggage fees).

If you don't want to watch movies, have a meal and have seat selection, Air NZ is only $239 and they have a good reputation.

Thanks...Main concern is free checked baggage and reliability. Hate to have flight cancelled.

Having flown LAN extensively over December '10 and January '11, I can tell you I'm not in a hurry to give them any more money.

Why?

1. Customer service is lacking.

2. Impossible to get seating together with your partner regardless of special circumstances

3. Check in is incredibly slow

4. No chance of an upgrade even if you are a FF member of an affiliate and have spent $K's on airfares

5. Frequent changes to schedules - our schedules changed so much since booking that we had to take a night off Quito and put an extra night at Iguazu Falls otherwise we would have had to have added another night in Quito and lost a night at Iguazu Falls resulting in not enough time there.

Despite all the flight changes over several months, our TA printed our tickets a week before departure and still more changes occurred, the last one being a day before we flew out, when we were advised there was a 4 hour delay once we got to NZ (Syd - Auck). And coming home, delays again.

6. Crew get on first then take up space in the overhead lockers to store all their carryons etc resulting in passengers having to look elsewhere to put their goods and chattles in - not easy when the plane is full and crew couldn't give a toss about the fact you've paid for your seat and a little bit of overhead locker.

7. All the LAN flights we were on were filled to capacity so there is little room to move when you're packed in like sardines.

On the plus side, we got there and back in one piece at a cheap price.
