10 days in June with 6 month old - itinerary recommendations

Hello fellow travellers,

I am writing to seek some tips/recommendations on my upcoming trip.

Who is traveling: myself, wife with our 6 month old baby

When: 30th May (flying in Goldcoast) - 10th June (flying out of Sydney)

So far I have only booked the flights and rental car. I have done some research on doing a road trip with 6 month old and seems like its not unheard of. We would definitely like to keep it super relaxed and non hectic - no more than ~4 hrs drive everyday.

I am hoping to get some help on planning the trip. In particular:

- sample itinerary

- places not to miss (keen to do outdoors, photogenic places, wildlife etc. but not remote)

- any other practical tips (ours is a tropical baby - any tips on managing her well in winters also appreciated)

Thanks a ton, looking forward to hear some thoughts.

Best, AK

You could do a road trip from Gold Coast to Sydney, but in witer, you won't be swimming so I don't think it is the best use of your time.

i recommend spending four nights in the Gold Coast region - beach, theme parks, Springbrook NP, Mt Tamborine, Byron Bay etc, then either two nights in Brisbane staying at Southbank or the CBD OR two nights in the Scenic Rim region exploring the countryside there, and staying omewhere with an open fire to enjoy.

After that, FLY to Sydney and explore the city, harbour, zoo etc (no car needed, use ferry, bus, trains) for the rest of your time, possiby including a day trip to the Blue Mountains either by train or one day car rental.

As far as clothing goes, a good winter oat, scarf, boots are required for the Scenic Rim/Hinterland, as well asSydny/Blue Mountains, but you want layers - someting you can easily take off when you enter a building. Get winter onesies and extra coat/beanie and nice warm blanket for bub in te pram and you will be fine.

Cheers.

Road trip GC to Sydney ?

If you allow 3 days around the GC (jet lag, settle in, young baby) and then 4 days in Sydney then not much time for a road trip in our winter. As above, do the GC area then fly to Sydney.

The BM will be much colder than Sydney so I would skip with a 6mth baby unless you have hire car.

Is your accommodation a serviced apartment (much better with a young child) ?

Your location shows Aberdeen?

Edit: And I agree a good look around GC and around Sydney does not leave much time in 10 days for a road trip between them too, especially a >>super relaxed and non hectic<< one.

Sunshine Coast say super relaxed more than Gold Coast for me.

Never, ever heard Aberdeen described s tropical!

2 locations, a baby and 10days means no road trip if you want a relaxed pace.

I don’t know why you e picked the Gold Coast but I’d suggest Noosa or Caloundra in DC instead. Then fly from MCY to SYD
