We are planning a two month trip to Australia and NZ.

What is the best way to pay for things- trips, cash withdrawals, hotels, car hire etc.

We want to minimize bank charges etc. we live in Turkey and have English bank cards.

Any advice please.

Hi Kathy,

A credit card that doesn't charge a foreign currency transaction fee is a good way to pay for most things in both countries. If your card charges a fee (often it's 2.5%) suggest seeing if you can obtain one that doesn't charge the fee. For cash, we used our bank debit card at an ATM and took out a few hundred dollars at a time, but withdrawals were infrequent because of CC use.

Have a good trip!

You can pay for almost everything by card in Australia, apart from small purchases like say an apple.

A FOREX. And is another option but no idea what ones are available in Turkey. Caxton is reasonable. It don’t know if you can apply for that or. It.
