Itinerary help

We are now staying in Sydney and would like to see other cities for two weeks before returning to Sydney for Vivid Sydney Festival then back home.

we prefer not flying so i was watching Brisbane , Gold coast, Cairns, Port Douglas. Can we do that by train or other land options?

which cities are more interresting during the last two weeks of May: we are interested in exploring cities, Parks, nature, cruises, snorkelling and want to see the highlights of these places.

What do you think would be the best Itinerary for me and what tranport means do u suggest.

Thanks for your help

I think the problem with your query is it is trying to impose vague expectations on an unfamiliar destination. If you tell us more about what you are seeking I am sure we can help. For snorkelling the Cairns and Port Douglas region is suitable but otherwise we just don't know enough yet to say what's 'best' for you.

A few things to keep in mind.

There is only one 'city' you can reach comfortably in one day by land (though there are many smaller towns). The cities you list would require road trips of many days or lengthy train travel. If the priority is the city rather than sights and overnight stops along the journey, you really should consider flying.

The large distances also mean you are travelling through different climate regions. All the cities you list are north of Sydney so can we assume you want to go somewhere warmer?

Sydney-Cairns/PD is 2,600 km drive so flying is the preferred method to get there.

You could catch the train to Adelaide (depends on your budget) and then explore Kangaroo Island

If you've flown here from Hong Kong why the reluctance to fly within Australian? It would make far more sense given the destinations you've listed.

Train or bus to Canberra makes sense but not to those other places you mention, it’s too far. What do you want to see and experience? Why don’t you want to fly?

Definitely fly to any of those. Should be able to get a cheap tiger air flight.

Could fly Sydney to Gold Coast, do theme parks, beaches, rockpools, Springbrook

Day trip to Byron

Day in Brisbane, Southbank, Goma, Museum (all free)

Sunshine Coast, Bulcock beach, Pt Cartwright (may see whales, walk to top tower and below on rocks), Mooloolaba,

Noosa (do the beautiful headland walk)

FRASER ISLAND -there's day tours from Noosa if you can't go for longer

Fly Sunshine Coast to Sydney

Thanks all for your help, yes ai wanted to choose some places warmer than Sydney and accessible by land cause we took over 10 flights last few weeks. But I see that it is more efficient way now considering the time you save travelling by air.

So we decided to spend some more time in Sydney then fly to Brisbane for 3 days then to Cairns for one week and doing some days trips from both cities.

Thanks everyone for your priceless help.
