4 days in Cassis- Itinerary

Everyone has been so helpful and I am so truly appreciative. I am hoping you can give me your thoughts about our Provence itinerary (this will be before going to Loire Valley).

Day 1- relax in Cassis; (Saturday)

Day 2- calanques boat tour/ drive La Route des Cretes (Sunday)

Day 3- drive to St. Tropez for lunch/ explore coast (weekday)

Day 4- Avignon/Pont du Gard (weekday)

Can we squeeze lavender fields into day 4? We'll be there mid-June, so not sure it will be all that impressive although i'd love to check it out. What are your thoughts? We're a very active family; so don't mind driving/exploring as opposed to laying out on the beach all 4 days. If you have any suggestions on things to check out for each day; i'd appreciate it; or if you think any day is just too ambitious, impractical- please also let me know. Also, my husband is an aspiring artist- so within Avignon or in St. Remy , do you recommend any must-see sights for him?

Thanks!

Unless you are dead set on it I would skip St. Tropez - it really isn't that great. As your husband is an aspiring artist have you thought of visiting Aix-en-Provence and seeing the various Cezanne sights?

The lavender should be in full bloom from mid-June; the map linked below is helpful to find fields:

I would visit Moustiers Sainte Marie then continue to the lavender fields on the plateau de Valensole.

Moustiers is a charming village with a great story and beautiful earthenware production.

I agree St Trop is not my first choice...

Aix-en-Provence and le Tholonet where Cezanne painted, the views of la Sainte Victoire I agree are a better choice.

I would also miss St Tropez, I was there during the regatta this year and it was interesting for an hour or two, but I wouldn't bother to go back. You could go to Aix and drive west through the Luberon a bit, see some of the villages there.
